Heath Dept.: Beware unlicensed home tattooing

The Huron County Health Department is warning residents not to participate in unlicensed home tattooing or "tattoo parties," which have cropped up around the area.

Such activities can result in infections or lifelong diseases associated with unsafe tattooing.

Tattoo shop shut down

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has shut down a home-based tattoo shop.

The health unit issued an order against Andy Hrycyshyn and Taisha Rose to stop providing uninspected tattooing services. The health unit warned that uninspected tattooing could lead to health risks such as hepatitis C and B, HIV and other skin related infections.
