The Arizona Supreme Court is deliberating whether the First Amendment rights of tattoo artists trump a city's right to regulate them under zoning codes.
The issue played out Tuesday morning as the five justices heard arguments in the case of Ryan and Laetitia Coleman, who in March 2009 were denied permission to open a tattoo parlor in Mesa's Dobson Ranch area.

The Evolution of Tattoo Art
While it's not entirely known what spurred early man to tattoo their bodies, we do know that the proof of tattoos dates way back to frozen tribesmen and ancient mummies. Mankind has always seemed to have some need, or love, of the tattoo art form.
Many cultures throughout the ages have used hand-poked tattoo techniques for their religious and tribal beliefs. Certain tribes in Somoa and Borneo use tattooing as a rite of passage for the individual to this day, honoring all of the ceremony and tools of their history. Nokia patents vibrating tattoos
Imagine not being able to separate yourself from your mobile phone. Literally.
Cellphone-maker Nokia now owns a patent for a tattoo capable of stimulating someone when they receive a call or text, reports Tech News World. It’s not yet known if Nokia is actively working on developing this technology, but the patent proves that corporations are looking to create more than the next faster, aesthetically pleasing device.
Such a "tattoo" would be more of a skin graft. Its material would be “capable of detecting a magnetic field and transferring a perceivable stimulus to the skin,” according to TNW. The question is: Are people willing to permanently attach themselves to their phones, even if it makes communication more convenient?
